We are sad to announce that long time Branch member, teacher, TAC representative and devoted dancer, Jane Kingsley, died quite suddenly on Saturday morning, Dec. 31. Jane played many roles in our Branch over the years: teaching at Bryn Mawr, running a children’s class (from which her daughter Beth emerged as an excellent dancer and still is very active in SCD in Washington, DC), representing our Branch to the TAC and the TAC to our Branch as our area representative and much more. But mostly,

Jane was a joyful and avid dancer who attended all levels of classes enthusiastically and was always interested in the lives of others. She was an absolute regular at social dancing and balls and her famous flourless chocolate cake, in whch a portion of the batter was used as the topping, was legendary. Later in life, dancing became more difficult for Jane and so she had to stop. She and her husband, PK, moved from their lovely Narberth home, to Dunwoody retirement communnity in Newtown Square.

There will be a funeral service for Jane at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Rosemont at 10:00 on Saturday, January 7th, followed by a reception at the Dunwoody Home in Newtown Square at 11:30. Those who who knew and remember Jane are invited and encouraged to attend either or both events.

We will sorely miss Jane and will fondly remember her warm smile and tireless enthusiasm for Scottish country dancing. Thank you Jane for all you gave us both on and off the dance floor.
